ucsb, uci, ucm, and ucr are guaranteed along with santacruz i think

has anyone received ELC letters yet?

I got guaranteed at Santa Barbara, Irvine, Merced, Riverside, and Davis with an
"I encourage you to apply" letter from San Diego.

Berkeley and Los Angeles? No dice lol.

uh...I'm ELC too but i only got a letter from merced and that "encouragement letter" from SD....don't all ELCers get the same letters?

bump.............

I guess not. I really did get those letters, no joke. The Davis one was the most encouraging. I'll quote what it said:

"Dear spectrez589,

As one of the highest achieving graduating seniors at your high school, you have satisfied the University of California's admission requirements through the Eligibility in the Local Context (ELC) pathway. We would like to recognize your outstanding academic accomplishments and guarantee your admission to UC Davis for fall 2007. Congratulations!

All you need to do to secure your place as a member of the UC Davis 2011 graduating class is to apply to our campus by the November 30 deadline, and continue to complete the required coursework and exams during your senior year in high school."

It goes on further, but the stuff I quoted is the important stuff. Oh and no, I didn't apply to UC Davis. I never really wanted to go there, so knowing I could have gone if I wanted to is enough for me.

I got those letters from schools like Santa Barbara, Irvine, Merced, etc. Nothing from the top UC's like Berkeley and LA :(

I don't think they GUARANTEE admission though (Maybe for most majors, but for engineering and what not I don't think they are a 100% guarantee).

My friend got one from San Diego. Lucky bum.

Quick question: The ELC letter from Irvine says that you are not guaranteed admission when majoring in Dance and Music, The Henry Samueli School of Engineering, the nursing science major in the college of health sciences and all majors in the Donald Bren School of information and computer sciences, So does that mean if i apply as Undecided/Undeclared i will not be guaranteed admission?

You should be guaranteed admission, but when you go to declare your major (and it's one of those you listed) you'll probably have to go through some sort of application process again.
