Anyone have first hand knowledge of ERC? Could you list some pros and cons? thanks

Great housing. Larger girl:guy ratio than other colleges. And of course… Terrible GE’s.

How intense is the writing requirement?

it’s 2 years. that fact alone makes it suck.

from what i’ve heard from friends, easy to get a B, hard to get an A.

Pros: The dorms are nice, the food is pretty good.

Cons: Lots of writing

Pro’s: new dorms, one of the more “social” colleges, good dining hall (has sushi, etc)
Con’s: Farther away on campus (but this leads to more exercise, which is a good thing!) MMW (writing program) is two years long. Lots of GE’s.

In my personal opinion - and I am not a science major, so keep that in mind - MMW is not as bad as people say. It’s hard to get A’s if you don’t do the reading and don’t go to lecture, something I have watched many people do. But it’s really not that bad and teaches you a lot. I’m almost done with MMW now and it has flown by. Don’t worry about it too much.

I love ERC. MMW sucks but the dorms and apartments are nice. You’ll also be close to Cafe V, OVT, Goodies, AND the Village. It is a bit far from the “main” areas of campus but whatever.

How close a walk are the ERC dorms to the beach?

^They’re not a “close” walk. None of the colleges have exactly what’s called a “close” walk, some are just closer than others. Take the bus, it’s a short bus ride.

MMW is tedious but it’s the easiest writing course of all 6 colleges to get an A in. This is mostly coming from anecdotes from people I have talked to but it does seem as if more people get A’s in MMW.

Take MMW abroad. Best experience of my life ever.

What is the girl/guy ratio? My S got into ERC, he’s a little concerned …

well my building has 3 girls for every guy… Obviously the whole college isn’t like that but it gives an idea.

do the GEs make it hard to double major?

^Depends on what you want to double major in.

GE’s make it more difficult to double major than other colleges, certainly, but not impossible. I’m in ERC and I’m graduating a year early with one major, so two is doable for sure.

Some pictures of ERC and it is BEAUTIFUL.

I’m so excited to move there :p

Hey that’s my album hahah

I’ll post some more pictures when I’m notgetting destroyed by finals week.

^I pulled them off another thread, I loved them and just HAD to repost them!

and that’s MY suite, hahaha

I mean our suite SDTriton

I personally chose MMW because I am relaly interested in History, but I also wanna do pre-med, will the GEs at ERC get in the way of pre-med?
