Elected as Varsity captain, e-mail college?

I was elected as Varsity Swim team captain (right after I sent out my ED Vanderbilt application). Should I bother e-mailing admissions and asking them to update my application? I feel like this is kind of important and really adds to my well-roundedness.

I would, it shows leadership. This didn´t just happen because you joined swim team senior year. You were elected because of your hard work over last 4 years. You should also let them know if wond any state or national swim competition.

Better, can the GC send this out? Makes it official and offers the chance for a comment.

My GC refuses to help me really because I’ve bombarded her so much these past 2 months and she’s already sent her letter of rec and has 650 other students to deal with. Would it be okay to just e-mail the admissions office? If so, what would I say?

Then, perhaps the coach or someone else can send it. It’s curious the GC won’t. If you really have bothered her too much, you will need to step back and take a hard look at your app- maybe there is enough in there already?

I don’t understand this. Your guidance councelor is supposed to provide GC yet it seems like I’ve heard of so many who don’t (mine included).

sooo would it be dumb of me to email the admissions office informing them of my new role as captain?

Just call the college and ask. If it’s possible you did bombard he GC- don’t end up doing this to the college. Just some friendly advice.

No, YOU email the school. You don’t need your GC or coach to contact the school over this. That’s not the protocol. They are not asking for verification. They expect a senior, who is almost an adult, to contact the school to let them when something has changed.
