here's my stats. straight a's in core classes, taking all honors classes, freshman. i work hard to attain that 4.0 GPA. well, it looks like i won't even make it. due to a bunch of required electives.

so in my gym class, we're graded by participation and "effort". in reality though, our gym teacher gives more points to the kids who have athletic prowess. so my grade is going down because of that one class (which i got a B in) I try to give it my best, but my gym teacher just grades me poorly because I'm not an athlete.

i'm so angry right now, also the fact that gym is a non-weighted class. we're forced to take it all four years, so it's not like i can opt out of it sophomore year. so it looks like first quarter i won't be able to make Head List (4.000 GPA or above with no grade lower than A-) THIS SUCKS

i'm so angry/worried right now... someone please help by giving me some advice on how this would impact my GPA/ how colleges view this...

Well could you talk to your gym teacher about why you have a B, since you complete all the work, etc, and see if you can do extra credit for next quarter?

Talked to her once about extra credit, she said she didn’t offer any.

She only gives As to the athletes who play in her organized sports teams, like I said. For the rest of the student body the highest you can expect is an A-.

I really try hard but in her eyes it’s always like I’m doing something wrong.

I got a B in gym freshman year. At the end of my sophomore year, I had a 3.984 GPA and was ranked fourth in my class. It wasn’t a big deal. 3.984 is more creative than 4.000 anyway. :)

Well strive for that A- or join her team. You don’t have to be athletic to be in track, XC, or swim. You just need to be athletic to be good in them.
