Electives

I went through the list of summer courses on the FSU blackboard website and noticed that there aren't any electives at FSU. I've already taken classes like humanities and English and I'm getting my AA so I don't need those type of classes.

Are there any aerobics, yoga, or kickboxing classes (anything similar) for credit? I think it would be a deal breaker for me if those type of classes aren't offered.

You could just go to the gym…

I saw those classes on the website but I need them for credit. I have financial aid & I need 12 credits per semester. I’m a chem major & I will be taking two science courses per semester. I don’t have time to study for other academic courses. I would much rather take an elective course…

Are all universities like this?

You can only take those kinds of classes 2 times throughout your whole undergrad, so I think you’re missing something here.

Don’t understimate yourself…you can take 13-15 hours of all academics and handle it.

And don’t say I don’t understand; I came in as a Freshy with 72 credits and I’m a Computer and Electrical Engineering major, so I literally jumped right into everything.

NoleSole,

Thank you so much! I guess I can take all academic classes. It’s nice to know you did it fine.

Did you get Gen. Chem (1045 I think ?) out of the way en route to your AA ?

There are plenty of electives, I took circus class, there is also tennis, bowling, soccer, water aerobics, and a whole lot more. But if you’re a freshman you probably won’t get into the good ones since you register late. When you go to course search just select Sport Management, Recreation Management & Phy under department and you’ll find all of them. Also don’t sell yourself short, I have many friends in science majors who take 15-18 credits. Good luck!

Also, I highly recommend taking AMH2097 which is race and ethnicity with Pamela Robbins. Hands down one of the best professors/classes i’ve had here.

Seconded on Pam Robbins. It’s a tough class grade wise, but she’s a fantastic professor / history teller.

Thanks a lot rddiaz09 & Matt. Your posts were very helpful.
