Electrical and Computer Engineering

I was wondering what kind of jobs people usually get when they major in ECE(or double major in electrical engineering and computer engineering). And what r the benefits of having ECE degree instead of just getting 1 of the degrees?

ECE has many areas, including circuit design (analog, digital, memory), signal processing / communications, semiconductors (integrated circuit fabrication), computer hardware (assembly programming, embedded systems, computer architecture), power systems, etc. There's no practical purpose to getting a double major in EE and CompE, since the difference is probably taking a couple of advanced electives. Your experience in design projects and internships will be a big factor in getting jobs.

im_blue, thanks for ur reply but u didnt really answer my question. I was wondering what r some specific jobs where knowledge of both electrical engineering and computer engineering(hardware) is preferred.

U r right, i will only need to take a couple more advanced electives for the second major(it will come out to 1 more semester)...1 more semester and u got 2 degrees, seems like a sweet deal to me.

Also, does having 2 degrees give u a certain edge when u r looking for a job? and would ur starting salary be greater?

I don't think it does matter for most circumstances whether or not you had the double major. Perhaps for a professorship or work in a research laboratory.

In some colleges, it's considered 1 major.
Is there any1 on these boards that is actually majoring in ECE or already got that degree?
