Well obviously Berkeley and UCLA would be the top two, in that order.

By NRC rankings (using formula of (R-rankings-95ple + S-rankings-95ple) / 2):

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA-SANTA BARBARA

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA-LOS ANGELES

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA-BERKELEY

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA-SAN DIEGO

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA-RIVERSIDE

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA-SANTA CRUZ

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA-IRVINE

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA-DAVIS

I am sure these are not perfect but the top 4 in this list align with the top 4 in the US news ranking so I am fairly sure they are the top 4 in the country. But if I were to rank them (with my limited understanding of California schools), it would be UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD/UCSB.

um… i just can’t believe SANTA BARBARA is ranked the first place and RIVERSIDE the fifth.
But yea, UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD/UCSB sounds more like it.

I’m an engineering student at UCR. The curriculum is just as challenging as the other schools.

Yes. The engineering community certainly the quality of a school very differently than US News or high school students. There is no reason to believe that UCR has a worse EE program than the other schools.

But certainly the student quality at the other UC’s may be higher and perhaps UCR can’t afford to weed out enough students to achieve the same graduating student quality so grading may be a little less harsh.

I hear since the Engineering UCR is small so it alows more interactment amoung classmates and teachers allow the greatest sucess for the students.
