Electrical engineering at UIUC or Texas A&M

Hey guys, I just got accepted to UIUC’s electrical engineering program and I’m still waiting to hear back from Texas A&M. How do the two programs compare? How do the locations compare (I’ve visited U of I, but not Texas). I’m a veteran and believe I would be a better fit at Texas A&M, plus I’m really getting tired of Illinois weather. Any input would be appreciated-thanks in advance.

I’ve attended both and I prefer the prevailing culture at UIUC, but it’s really personal preference. UIUC’s reputation is stronger but A&M has a strong reputation as well and will provide essentially the same set of opportunities. I’d say try and get down to College Station and visit sometime and let that help you decide.

I don’t really know about UIUC except for its strong reputation. I’m a Texan and have a son in TAMU engineering. It sounds like you will love the milder weather and enjoy the regard for the military that is so prevalent on campus. Engineering is very strong and the engineering career fairs are huge providing great employment opportunities. It would be great if you visit the campus if you get accepted. Good luck!
