I am majoring in electrical engineering at Cal Poly, and I am wondering whether the department has a policy or preference for a specific computer. I know that Windows runs more engineering programs, but Macs can also do this via Bootcamp or virtual machine software. I am considering getting a Macbook Pro, but I am open to any advice people have.
Hey there, I go to USC and I’m not exactly majoring in ee (comp ling major here), but I think you would be just fine with a MacBook Pro. In fact, just about 90% of the students in my computer science classes seem to have one And yeah, while it’s true you’d probably have a slightly easier time with Windows when it comes to some of the programs, our class has us using a Linux virtual machine anyway, so I think you’d be fine anyway whether or not you’d have to do the same thing at Cal Poly I feel more out of place with my Surface Book in the sea of MacBooks
