Electrical Engineering --> Mechanical Engineering

I applied to UVA for electrical engineering, because at that time this was my field of interest. I will be attending UVA next year (and am excited). Is is feasible to change your planned major to mechanical engineering before starting any classes and whatnot? I've always been interested in both, but now I'm really leaning toward mechanical rather than electrical. I would imagine most of the classes for them are the same to begin with, so it shouldn't be a big deal, but please let me know if you have any information to give me about this.

Thanks,

You don’t have to make a final decision until April of your first year. You’re fine

Thanks shoebox10 – I’ve enjoyed reading all your posts I’ve seen. Enjoy the rest of your time at UVA.

One suggestion I have is take ECE 200 (Science of Info, I don’t know what the new course number is, they all changed this year). It’ll help you really decide if EE is for you or not. MechE is a little more easier to grasp from the outside, but EE really isn’t…
