Electrical Engineering MS Upenn VS Umich?

Hi

I have narrowed my choice between those two schools. I know that Umich enjoy a high reputation in engineering, but what I obtain is only a master's degree. Somebody say that Upenn' engineering program is weak, but the Ivy brand is very appealling to me and Ivy's brand may be useful for me if I do something other than engineering.Upenn has Wharton and EE program can select some courses from Wharton.

I don't know what to do now. Please give me some suggestions. Thanks a lot.

I would suggest making on choice depending on environment, costs, etc. The academic at University of Michigan and UPenn for engineering are pretty similar and job placement should be close.

j89, I think the Umich is stronger in engineering programs. I care which school can help me find a good job after graduation.

Michigan’s brand is as powerful as the Ivy Brand. Schools like Cal, Chicago, Duke, Georgetown, Johns Hopkins, MIT, Northwestern, Stanford and UVa (to name a few) have very powerful brand names (that rival the Ivy brand) of their own.

you may not believe me, but i think a EE MS from umich engineering is much more impressive than one from Upenn to employers. just because a school is ivy doesn’t mean it’s superior…
