Electrical Engineering Purdue vs UIUC

I know UIUC is the better school and I would prefer to go there, but it would cost me around 30 grand a year (using UIUC own cost estimator). If I go to Purdue, I would only need to pay about 10 grand per year but I would be at the worse school.

It comes down to how much better UIUC is at electrical engineering. Is it worth the extra 20 grand yearly price tag?

Can’t think of any reason why the $80,000 difference would be worth it.

Purdue is a very respectable school in any case.

Yeah, I’m leaning towards Purdue at the moment. I actually just wrote UIUC a appeal for my financial aid, as the price seems just too steep considering that I’m an in-state student. I know plenty of people who were less qualified than me who got much better merit and need based aid (I got 34 on ACT straight A’s ec etc). To be honest I felt quite crushed when I got my aid package from UIUC, considering that it was my dream school :(

They just emailed me back and said they can’t give me additional aid.

Purdue is hardly going to give you a bad education. Save the $80K and go there.
