Electrical Engineering Ranking UCSB vs Cal Poly Pomona?

^^^^^^bl4ke, Please read what I posted again - why don’t you stop now…you have just gotten utterly destroyed in this debate…

the discussion is about CalPolyPomona and UCSB

not between Harvey Mudd and MIT

Actually no, I’ve proved that phd-offering schools are not automatically better than non-phD schools especially for undergraduates.

Might as well change the “debate” after you’ve lost, and I already addressed cal poly pomona vs ucsb in post #37, and the difference is negligible.

Congrats on getting closer to making your decision. UCSB is a great school with a fantastic EE department. By the way, did you physically visit both schools and get to know the profs and some students? Let us know which you choose – the deadline is May 1st!

Here’s an interesting article. This ranks Cal Poly higher than MIT, VT, Purdue, GIT, and Penn State for defense & aerospace hiring. This must say something for the quality of the program. I do know that Cal poly tailors to kids looking to get into industry and a lot of the big name schools don’t, but this still struck me as an impressive stat.

The 2010 Wall Street Journal recruiter rankings for overall engineering also place Cal Poly in a strong position. Here’s where the California schools are ranked:

11 Stanford

12 UCB

18 Cal Poly

19 UCLA

No other California schools are listed in the top 25.

This thread makes me laugh.

A few years ago CPP would not have been considered against UCSB, but because of the brutal economy, CPP’s emphasis on getting you ready for the work force from day one (and not pondering on the dilemmas of theoretical ambiguities) makes it more appealing.

Just the new reality, plus it’s a lot cheaper.
