Hello,
I am going to be a senior at the University of Arkansas studying electrical engineering. This past semester my GPA fell below 2.0 and now I’m considering switching majors. If I want to graduate with electrical engineering I will have to stay an extra 2.5 years because of my messed up schedule. Should I switch majors? What should I switch to that would take less than 2 year to complete? Should I transfer colleges? Please help me!
What is your overall GPA? That will determine whether transferring even is an option.
What is yiur GPA in EE? That will determine whether transferring in that major is an option.
How many EE courses do you need to repeat? Chances are that you would need that many anywhere you would try to transfer to for EE.
What does your advisor suggest as an alternate major to graduate sooner? Sit down with your transcript, and see which classes you have earned decent grades in. Try to match them up with degree requirements for other majors at your university. Maybe you will find a good option. Ask about an independent major. Some universities allow students to design those. If so, you might be able to graduate as soon as you hit four years worth of credits.
Why did you do so poorly this last semester? Until you figure that out, you might not be able to get the grades you are capable of.
