Lots of people take up specialization in engineering. One specialization in electrical engineering is control systems. I was wondering if anyone can give me the difference between the specialization and the major Control and Systems Engineering.

‘Control and Systems Engineering’ is not a commonly offered major so its hard to answer this question without knowing what school you go to. In general, control is a subject that is taught in several engineering disciplines at the undergraduate level. For example, my university offers control classes in the Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, and Electrical Engineering departments.

You should look up lists of classes and example schedules for both progams at your university, that will give you some idea of the differences.

@ulianjay Case Western Reserve offers Control and Systems Engineering AND Electrical Engineering with a specialization in control systems. Both paths are part of their EECS department. Ill look up the classes. thanks for the info.

Case Western Reserve was the first to be accredited in Systems and has been a leader. Professor Mihajlo Mesarovic, was a leader in the field. Today they have a number of leading faculty. Systems, is generally better at the graduate level, rather than the undergraduate level.

@cle4life thanks. i turned in my early application to case as an electrical engineering major. (i know it has an open door policy though).
