Electrical Engineering Without Computer Engineering?

Just a quick question: is it possible/wise to major in Electrical Engineering and not Computer Engineering? I understand that Rutgers likes to pair them up but I'm unsure of the underlying reasons for it. This is purely an opinionated question, but what would someone of an engineering major recommend be the best course of action? What are the differences?

Hey I’m a computer engineering major! I think the reason the majors are paired up because they are just so dependant on eachother that it makes sense to learn about both. Its a really great program and the computer aspect of the degree will make you look better than just having an electrical engineering degree.
Good news though:
The only computer engineering classes that you would have to take while on the electrical engineering track are “Computer Architecture and Assembly Language” and “Programing Methodology One”.

So you would take the first year general engineering courses, then sophomore year you would take two computer classes and two or three electrical classes but then junior and senior year would be all electrical classes.

Thanks RUCady!
