Eli Whitney 2010 Applicants

have you guys gotten any emails from yale recently? I haven’t gotten any after the eli account thing…

Eli Account? I thought EWSP’s don’t get an Eli account???

To my knowledge–unless the procedure has changed since last year, which I doubt–EWSP applicants aren’t supplied Eli accounts. I suspect that natim1 is applying for Freshman admission and is unaware that this thread is dedicated to a distinct program, separate from Freshman admissions.

natim1, if you are indeed applying as a Freshman, you may find other threads, or posting your question in the general Yale forum, will yield greater results.

Hello All!

I am not applying until next year but I am hanging out and checking it out. I think I am a pretty good candidate (4.00 GPA college, 34 ACT) but I don’t know how my circumstances will be interpreted. I went to Virginia Tech and didn’t have a lot of psychological stability and I actually left after I discovered the first bodies at the Virginia Tech shooting. It brought on a lot of Post Tramautic Stress. I am returned now to a community college in MA as going to Virginia Tech is too hard again. Hopefully this won’t look bad upon me!

Best of luck all!

Alright, application deadline has arrived! Probably just a few weeks now until interview requests are made and the first round of rejections are sent out. I’m thankful that they get back to you so quickly; it would be nerve-wracking to have to wait months for an answer!

I think the worst was a scholarship that I was nominated for… the nomination process was in october… the application process through november… early rounds were last week and final decisions have yet to be made!!! LOL that kills…

Although, the idea that I may graduate in May and still not know where I am going next year…

It’s probably too early for this, but…

Anyone hear anything yet?

I got an email saying the last of my recommendation letters and transcripts showed up. Now I am haunted by blue silence.

I have a teacher delaying one of my rec letters… I am on his tail but he’s my only fulltime science teacher and it is imperative he write the letter as i intend on majoring in science!!! SO FRUSTRATING!!!

I think it’s definitely still way too early for anyone to have heard anything (unless it’s concern over missing items). I’d hazard a guess that people will start getting the phone call for interviews around the week of 4/19-23, with a few coming as late as 4/30. Last year people claimed to have gotten rejection letters as early as 4/14, but because of the weirdness that happened on this board there’s no way of knowing if that’s true.

I actually think if I remember correctly that some people got “the call” in early May… but last year was last year and this year is this year…

Not that I’m, you know, feeling totally anxious or anything but…

In last year’s EWSP thread, here are the dates that people reported getting interview requests…

April 16, April 27, May 1, and May 13.

Two rejections were reported on May 27.

Rejections came in the form of letters. If I recall correctly, every interview request was made over the phone.

Anyway, if last year is any indication (and I realize that this may be faulty inductive reasoning on my part), it seems like phone calls to set up interviews will be made in the next three weeks.

Deep breaths.

Mikel claimed to receive his rejection letter on 4/14. Was he one of the fakes? IDK.

Hard to tell. He was the one who said he dropped out of Stanford, carried a 3.95 GPA at Andover, and helped develop touch screen technology for Apple. He said he had applied in early March. If they were doing rolling rejections and interviews, and his application was complete then I suppose it’s possible that he got a letter that early.

Ugh. I sent my application in early March, though they didn’t get all the materials (transcripts, letters etc) until late March.

So much of that thread was just sniping and melodrama. There was one post that indicated that three people had the same IP address (?!!!) but it was never elaborated on. This year’s thread seems much more subdued, post-wise, and I’m grateful for that.

I re-read the thread and quite a few rejections were reported on May 27. I don’t think any other rejections were mentioned in April. I don’t know. I suppose we’ll all know soon enough, though…

So, I just reread last years thread… and yes I too have found inconsistancies… however, going of the word of Deusex whom we know was admitted… I am inclined to believe we will here news early May… probably around May 3… this means we have a good two weeks…

just wondering anyone heard anything else already/ called admissions?

Still nothing. Haven’t called admissions. Did they get your rec letters?

Yup they got the last letter, and I was informed via email… that was the last I heard.

Glad they got the letters…

Still nothing today.

Guess I was wrong about things starting to happen this week. For my own peace of mind I’m assuming I won’t hear a peep until the end of May.

If they’re aiming for May interviews, I’d imagine we’d hear something before then. My understanding is admission requires an interview.

The silence is deafening, but it beats a rejection letter.

The die, I suppose, is already cast: there’s some comfort to be found there. Not much, but I’ll take what I can get.

Does anyone have any idea how many EWSP applications Yale got this year?

Ah well, semester is almost over here and I’ve got finals and papers to worry about. Time and time alone will sort this out, come what may.

Good luck, all.

People who DON’T get an interview might not hear anything (i.e. rejection letter) until the end of May or the beginning of June. For my own peace of mind, I’m assuming that’s me. But someone last year said that they got a call requesting a May interview something like May 27th, that late.
