@BigMike77 That’s awesome, congrats! Please let us know how it goes.
Did anyone else get an interview yet?
Asking the question most likely in everyone’s heads at this time
I’ve been wondering the same as we’ve seen a couple of people say that they got an interview request by this time in previous years. It’s possible that either the people who received an interview request are not active on this thread currently or that application reviews are being processed slowly due to the crisis. It could be both.
In any scenario, (PERSONAL OPINION / NOT OFFICIAL) I don’t expect any interview requests going out after April 17th because they need the advance time to prepare for interviews beginning on the 27th.
I’m sure we’ll be hearing some good news for the rest of the folks here soon. Cheers!
Thank you! I am biting my nails in anticipation, hoping and praying for an interview. Please share if you all get one!
I know, I’m hoping there are more rounds of interview invites, but also trying not to get my hopes up. This quarantine is really just amplifying everything.
I believe interviews will go out after 4/10 when all the missing documents are due for applicants who have yet to submit everything. In my opinion, I do not believe they will send out interviews before fully reviewing all applications. I can be wrong, I do not know for sure. But anyway, good luck to you all. If I receive any news, I will definitely post.
I think most of the interview requests will come out between the 13th to the 17th. I’m assuming that they will do this on weekdays and am basing the estimate from previous threads
I wish you all best of luck for this upcoming nailbiter of a week!
Hey guys! Just for clarification, only Eli Whitney applicants get live interview requests but not regular transfer applicants right? Thank you for your help!
just kidding… I think some regular applicants got them too ? sorry about any confusion!
I received an interview request this Monday, very excited but nervous. The interview is scheduled for the last week of April, as others have mentioned.
Does anyone know what the number breakdown was in previous years? As far as how many received interviews / were most who received interviewed accepted? It seems like they are running a different process this year given the COVID-19 situation.
@stx_1234 would you mind sharing your stats? Wishing you best of luck with the interview.
Congrats @stx_1234 and @BigMike77!
In previous threads, it seems like a handful of people have always confirmed receiving interviews. Off the top of my head, I think someone said that there were like 28 interviewees in 2018 (may be remembering it incorrectly) with the general consensus being that 20-30 interviews were held on average with the number of accepted students supposedly ranging from 8-20. The main issue is being selected for an interview in the first place so I wouldn’t worry too much in your case.
Just to summarize the few stats we have on CC for everyone so that they don’t have to go down the rabbit hole , interview requests were given:
2015 - 2 to 3(?) applicants on late April but process seems very different from recent years
2016 - April 11 (2 applicants) & April 20/21 (3 applicants)
2017 - April 6 (2 applicants) & 1 applicant with unconfirmed date
2018 - April 11/12 (2 applicants)
2019 - April 5 (4 applicants) & possible April 10 (secondhand account of 1 applicant)
I hope that other people who receive an interview will let us know as it would be helpful not just to us but future applicants as well. Hope that all of you are safe during this crisis.
Cheers!
Hi guys, does anyone have updates? I did not receive an interview yet sadly.
Nope. No updates on my end.
I just went through threads up to 2016 and there has only been one secondhand account of someone getting an interview after the first batch went out so… I also highly doubt that COVID-19 had a ‘significant’ impact on admissions processing because I’m guessing that most people had submitted their apps beforehand. Then again, maybe I’m being too pessimistic.
Hope that all of you are safe!
@agpup123 No, nothing here. I hope more requests do go out, but I also don’t want to have too much hope just for my own sanity.
Thanks for your response guys. It’s comforting to know others are in the same boat as me. I’m thinking of emailing admissions to ask but don’t want to seem pushy…
Anyone get any interview requests today?
lol, this quarantine is really making everything so much more intense. I check the portals of all my applications for the remaining 13 schools all day, everyday, even though I know they won’t be released yet.
No interview request yet! Is an interview indicative of admission acceptance?
@llinrs Yes. Per Yale’s website, “After a preliminary review of completed applications, the Admissions Office offers interviews to a small number of Eli Whitney candidates. For admission to the EWSP, an interview is mandatory.”
Hey all, thought I’d poke my head in here to cheer you on and offer you some info from last year. I got my interview request on 4/4/19 (so did my husband)
All interviews were online via video chat, we spoke to a current student and separately to an admissions officer (the admissions people are SUPER NICE!)
Decisions were released on 5/16/19, my husband and I both got in but chose to go to Williams instead (just a better fit for our family during this period.)
According to Yale’s CDS they had 1254 total transfer applications (including EW and more traditional transfers if that is even a thing, haha!) and accepted 27 of us (again, that includes non-EWSP transfers) for an acceptance rate of around 2% if my math is right. They also had a super high yield with 21 of the 27 admitted students enrolling.
I’m so excited to see all of your decisions about where you choose to go, you did extraordinary things to get this far and will continue to create magic wherever you eventually choose to finish undergrad… this is only the beginning!
@RainbowBritey Hi, thank you for the info. and encouragement! I remember seeing your name in the thread from last year. Do you happen to know if all interview invites would be done by now, or did they roll some more out after the first week of April?
