Well guys, I took your advice and limited myself to three letters of rec. Who to cut was a tough choice, but I think I made the right one.

Hi, guys. I’m applying this year.

@marcuscolon Welcome and best of luck!

@springing Thanks! Best of luck to you, too.

Does everyone have their apps in?

@springing Not quite yet. Everything is finished, polished, and ready to go, but I want to have at least one more day to allow for editing, inspiration, or things like that. With my luck, I’m sure the submission portal will go down until the due date and I’ll be SOL!

@cellodiego haha! I feel your pain. I submitted a few days ago because I just needed to be done with it. As a FYI, there was no prompt to pay the fee before or after hitting submit. I had to log out and log back in in order receive a prompt to pay. The nice part of being online this year is that we have the ability to check the status of required documentation.

Exactly. Mailing things in last year was such a pain. The entire address for the EWSP barely fit on the mailing label for the USPS shipping envelope!

@springing I filed my application today morning. I found out transcripts must be sent to Yale directly from colleges, so I contacted two colleges I attended and asked the service, which made my day hectic a little.

@CelloDiego haha, I had the same experience with UPS shipping label.

Submitted my app just now. I still have so much stuff missing, despite requesting transcripts a week ago. I’m also probably going to have to call Yale and ask them to dig my SAT and ACT reports out of the freshman pile, or something.

@cellodiego I think it will take a while for them to match up transcripts with applications. The admission staff has had their hands full lately with the 30k regular applicants. Perhaps now that that process is winding down the EWSP applicants will get some love.

I emailed one of the admissions staff I happened to meet last year, so let’s hope she can sort this out.

Let us know what you hear. What happens if letters of rec are not in by the deadline?

The response I got was “No need to panic yet. We are finishing up the freshman admissions process and have not yet filed many of the Whitney application materials.” and then some details specific to me. I think that they are very flexible on rec letters since you really have no control over them.

@CelloDiego That’s a good news.

Did your SAT status change yet? I’ve sent my SAT score a week ago, but it’s still the red cross.

By the way, do you guys have any idea how much SAT score will contribute to admission? I am over 2000, but not that high because I made a few mistakes on the exam, and I found that the exam is not for me anymore. It’s too exhausting.

I think the admissions committee’s concern is that the applicant is capable of fulfilling all of the distributional requirements for graduation. They don’t want to admit someone who can only complete 2 of 3 requirements. So, if your SAT scores, combined with current course work, provides evidence that you can succeed I don’t think a lower than Yale average SAT score will hold you back. I submitted scores lower than yours and still managed to get an interview.

@springing Thank you very much for the encouraging information. I hope we have the chance to show the passion and dedication.

Yeah, the adcoms have told me before that your score doesn’t matter a whole lot.
