ELI5: Direct Admission programs

The subject is the topic. Context is public colleges.

This may seem obvious to some, but it’s new to me, so I want to ensure I am understanding how this works.

School says: if a student has 4 years of math Algebra I or higher, including one year higher than Algebra II, all with grades of B or better or a math SAT score of X or a math ACT score of Y, they qualify for the direct admission program.

I’m quoting from one of the college’s websites. HTH

Does this mean that if the student has those scores or classes/grades on their transcript, they will be directly admitted to that program if they are accepted? Or does it mean they will be accepted to both the university and the program if they have those metrics?

TIA

“Qualify” is the word that is throwing me, but I’m not sure if that’s your language or that of the college.

Generally speaking schools that have auto acceptance thresholds are very clear about the criteria necessary and if you qualify for “direct admission” then that is acceptance to both the university and the program.
