Are international students eligible for taking gap year? I m curious

It’s up to each university to decide whether to grant a particular request for a deferral. It’s more likely to get approved at the undergraduate level than at the graduate level. Whether a particular financial aid or scholarship offer will still be valid the following year is up to institutional policies.

If this is for you (already enrolled at a university) there are two problems

  1. will the University allow you to (there’s a specific term for that gap year, NOT WITHDRAWAL)
  2. what will happen to your visa status.
    I think a year of co-ops would be simpler from the point of view if the University and SEVIS.
    Go immediately to your international counselor and ask.
