Eligibility in Local Context (ELC)

Does anybody know how much of a difference having ELC will make to being admitted into UCLA or Berkeley Engineering?

I have the highest stats of anyone in my school (I attend an under performing school), but they are still only barely on par and slightly below the freshman profiles for engineering at these schools.

My question is... Will having ELC greatly increase my chances of being accepted?

Eligibility in the local context means that if UCLA or BERKELEY do not accept you, then Merced will. It doesn’t guarantee that you will get into your choices, only the UC’s choice of Merced or possibly Riverside.

Also your school has to be a part of the system, not all schools participate and due to your stats being below the school’s average it’s not going to help even if you are in it.
