Does anyone know the eligibility index for mechanical engineering at Cal Poly Pomona and Chico State?
3700 for most majors at Chico
CPP is highly variable by major but, for ME, you’ll probably need to be 4000+
I would agree with @NCalRent. Since they do not publish their EI thresholds like SJSU, you can look over the accepted student threads and see how you compare to last year’s admits. Remember, you will be compared to each new year’s applicants so at least for last year admissions, the applicants were highly competitive.
Apply widely so you have some options in the Spring.
Thank you - I was wondering if it was worth it for my daughter to apply, she has a 3902 eligibility index.
SDSU is our local Cal State for M.E. but I know it’s really competitive and her EI is too low.
She is really interested in Cal Maritime as well because of the hands on learning. Not sure her chances there either. She is not opposed to community college first which may be a good option.
SDSU no longer gives local preference unless she is part of the Compact for Success and Engineering Compact (both being discontinued at the end of this admission cycle). I would apply but consider it a Reach.
With her EI, all the CSU’s except for CSULB, SDSU, SJSU, Cal Poly SLO and Pomona would be good options.
Not much data on Cal Maritime other than an admission rate of 48% in 2017, average CSU GPA of 3.41, SAT of 1156 and ACT of 24. Also ME is impacted.
