Ill eliminate my first college tomorrow. If anyone has any suggestions for any of the categories please post a reply.

I chose these colleges because I think they all offer a different experience. All of these colleges seem to have great academics and students. I need a college close to Chicago because of my strong family life. Id love a college to be a close knit community, but not necessarily a small student body.

I'd eliminate Valparaiso for sure. Everything I have ever heard about it has been bad. "Very white, boring, place with insane campus police."

Everything I've read on it doesn't appeal to me, but I would suggest taking that off your list. In place of it you should probably check out St. Olaf (Minnesota).

If you're interested in Architecture, maybe IIT? Notre Dame also has a good architecture program
Also Loyola in chicago

Maybe take off Vanderbilt? It seems very random compared to the other colleges in your list (then again I don't know if theres a reason you chose it)

Thanks for the suggestions. Ill check them out and add them to my list.

I would cross of the University of Chicago because you already live in Chicago now and you should venture away from it.

Interesting. I liek the campus though and if I got in idk what I would do. You are right though. Thanks for your input. The academic side of Chicago is very tempting though.

should consider applying to 6 yr pharmacy programs like USP or rutgers if you're interested in pharmacy. you might get significant scholarship at either.

Thanks Lurker. Rutgers might be too far away but USP is deffiantely an option. I think ill start the eliminating tonight in about 15 min!

Alright my first cut. I am going to remove a match. Im am taking out Beloit College. Great school, but does not have great academics in terms of my intended majors.

Bump. Cutting another later today

Your list is all over the place. What size school would you prefer--a tight-knit LAC community or the bustle and opportunity of a university?

u can get rid of at least half of your safeties, for sure...

The size doesnt really matter to me. I mean i could adapt to both large and small student populations. What matters to me is how friendly and laid back the people and the campus is. Do different kinds of students hang out together? Stuff like that.

I need some help for my next cut. I am taking out a safety. Right now it is between Marquette and Valparaiso. Valparaiso is close to the beach, decent academically and has a gorgeous campus. Marquette is also close to home and has an amazing basketball program! is has a bit better academics than Valp. Give me advice!

Why do you want to stay so close to home?

I dont wanna stay realy really close to home but id like to be retively close because I have a relatively strong family life...

Ive decided to remove Valparaiso from my list. After talking to some alumni and current students, I think the school may be a little to conservative for me. Hard choice beacuse I loved the surrounding area.

I'd have gotten rid of Marquette and left Valpo to have a smaller-school safe option. But no problem. Tomorrow move CMU to your upper list since it's a low reach, and we'll jettison it.

Yea but ive heard some really bad things about Valpo. I think marquette is more of a match for me in terms of academics. Ha dont like Carnegie?
