Anyone from Auburn that went through the process for applying to the Elite Scholarships in the past that can enlighten me?

I didn't end up going to Auburn, but I applied for the Elite Scholarships. I just kind of filled it out without thinking it over too much, which is probably why I didn't receive a "call back."

If you really want a shot at one of them, probably speaking with someone from the university about what you can do to increase your chances would be advisable. Sorry I can't give you better advice.

Thanks for that. Do you remember how the process works?

I mean, I just received my Presidential Scholarship today. But there was no mention of applying for the "elite scholarships" in the letter. I did say I would receive more information in January regarding my award adn that there would be a Presidential Scholars Day in January as well.

so, do you remember if you got something after you received your initial scholarship award or at the same time?

I believe you will receive an invitation to apply for the Elite scholarships should you qualify. I don't recall seeing any information about the elite scholarship letters going out when I was last at work (I'm in the admissions office) so they probably will not be sent out til January but I can't say for sure.

I received an email from Auburn today with information regarding the Elite scholarships as well as an application.

thanks cobalt. I just checked my Auburn email account and there it was. I wish they would send stuff to my regular email account. I am in no way used to checking the Auburn email on a regular basis.

Suzie, how did you set up a tigermail account? I haven't received any information on how to do so.

Cobalt, I think you have to send in the $200 deposit before you get the email account. I can't remember for sure. I sent in my deposit because I wanted to be able to put in for on campus housing before it was all gone. Figured it was worth the $200 deposit. Plus they made it seem like applicants that had sent in deposits would be given scholarships before those who had not and I didn't want to risk that either. I think it is all just a ploy to get a lot of people to send in $200, but figured if I was getting a full tuition scholarship, I could afford the $200.

I am assuming you have not sent in the $200 deposit.

Ah, I have not done that.
Er, should I?
I too am a recipient of the presidential scholarship.
The reason I haven't is because I'm waiting to see if I' admitted into the UFE at Alabama.

I guess that depends on your housing preference. If I go, I really want to live in the Honor residence halls the first year. I also definately want to live on campus. Since they don't guarantee any on campus housing, the earlier you sign up, the better your chance of getting what you want.

Unfortunately, you can't sign up for housing until you send in your deposit.

Like I said, seems like a way to get a lot of people to send in $200 regardless of where they end up going to school. All the other schools I applied to guarantee freshman housing on campus, so I don't need to worry about sending anything until 5/1
