Hey, I wouldn't be asking this question if I went to a college with an education department:

Is it possible to get into elite schools of education such as Harvard, Teacher's College, Penn, and Stanford without having done any substitute teaching?

What do schools of education look for besides GPA and GRE's?

Most students in education programs have WORK experience. It also depends on whether you want a Master's or PhD degree. Most students are of nontraditional age (25 and older).

im pretty sure that teachers college requires some sort of classroom experience, but check the website www.tc.edu to see their admissions requirements. (they have such a wide variety of education specialties!)

I have searched thoroughly the websites of the aforementioned colleges. College Confidential threads tend to have "insider's info," and that was what I had hoped to get out of this.

It seems like, in general, Schools of Education are easier to get into than other graduate programs, no?

i tend to agree, at least at TC
