^ too bad you didn’t realize it earlier; you could have had some amazing vacations!

me too… should i attend princeton, id be one of the poorest students they have

what’s an eating club? A club where you eat?

^
they are pretty much dining halls on steroids, where the majority of Princeton upperclassmen take their meals

Lol dining hall on steroids? They’re mansions. We eat in the dining room(s) of these mansions.

Here is an example of one:

You experienced and intelligent CCers, please reassure me that princetontigress having a mere one post means she is a ■■■■■.

As if grade deflation wasn’t enough already to put me off…

She is being sarcastic, so she is neither telling the truth nor ■■■■■■■■. :P

Don’t worry.

And grade deflation really isn’t that bad.

It entirely depends on who you choose to hang out with. There is the elitist social scene, there is a friendlier social scene, and there are also plenty of people who don’t care about the social scene and are here to focus on academics. So if you want elitism, you’ve got it, if you want competitive academics, you’ve got it, if you want something in the middle, you’ve got it.

I visited Princeton a couple of days ago and had the opportunity to eat dinner at Tower, one of the five selective eating clubs. It completely shocked me to see how friendly everybody was; I was expecting at least a bit of elitism. I heard from my mother (a Tower alum) and Tower students themselves that the only club where elitism is generally present is Ivy.

Another thing I gleamed from my meal at Tower was that a lot of them were friends through majors (Tower seemed to have a decent amount of Woodrow Wilson kids) or through clubs (for example, Triangle Club, Princeton’s theater company, or an improv group). I believe that, judging from my experience, it would be accurate to say that joining the selective eating clubs (especially Tower and excluding Ivy) is not based in socioeconomic status.
