Elks MVS 2018

@michaellamam if you have both scores you can combine them in a zipped document and upload that.

has anyone in NC got an email?

@breakfeastclub1234567890 I haven’t received anything. Hopefully our results will come tomorrow. I sent an email to them yesterday to find out when we should hear back. I’m expecting them to reply to my email tomorrow.

The Elk District provides a map of each lodge area. Our district called today about moving up to the next level

For those of you in NC my friend received an email saying she moved on to State, but I have not received anything. It was not even in my spam. Anyone else have any luck?

@MaybeUNC2022 nothing here yet!

For uploading SAT scores, is just the front page from the score report (from college board) sufficient? Also, in FAQs, they only specify no superscore for ACT…anyone else send two highest scores from separate tests for SAT? Just wondering because on Legacy Award it actually asks for BEST math, BEST verbal, but on MVS, it doesn’t specify so D used superscore on MVS too. Hope it’s not a problem.

@MaybeUNC2022 Not yet!

I got a reply to my email: Thank you for reaching out to us about the District Judging results for the Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship.

This year, District Selection took slightly longer than expected, due to the high application turn out. We had a lot of very deserving and qualified applicants! The District Judges were faced with a difficult and monumental task in deciding who should move forward to state.

With that in mind, the selection email which was scheduled for January 19th has not been sent as of yet. We have finalized the choices for state, however, and the email should be going out by the end of the day today.

We appreciate your patience while we get that notification prepped and sent out to you.

@MaybeUNC2022 Thanks for keeping us updated! Best of luck to you!

Does anyone know if Illinois Elks gives scholarships?
I was just told that I am a state finalists, and was wondering if I may be getting scholarships from the local/district/state level. I have not been notified of anything other than my advancement.

Also, do you think I have a chance of being competitive at the national level?

18 yr old female
low income school district
32 ACT
1430 SAT
Senior year I am taking 2 online classes my school does not offer, 3 AP classes, and one dual credit class with the local community college.

AGI was 103,000 - BUT I included in the financial information section that this is NOT NORMAL for our family.
My dad runs a farm and this was an unusual year. If you averaged our incomes for the last three years it comes out to 47,000. Again, I included this information in the application.
Other financial circumstances included many health bills - my dad has cancer, I have chronic migraines (for which I see a specialist in Chicago, 4 hours away), and my sister has been in 2 bad car wrecks in the past 3 years.

I have a lot of community service hours listed and 2 jobs - one at a radio station and as a self-employed tutor.

I’m involved in multiple activities in and out of school.

Some honors listed were: Illinois State Scholar, Yale Young Global Scholar, and NRA Youth Education Summit delegate.

Any responses would be appreciated!

@NatNic here’s a link to the stats of a guy who I’m pretty sure won the $50,000 prize in 2016. This gives an idea of the competition at the national level. Scroll down the page and look for Jay Little. HTH

Just a reminder to everyone to get your state finalist apps in!

@NatNic I don’t know how competitive your individual state is, but if you advance to Nationals, you will probably stay at the lowest level, which is $4,000 ($1k/year). You have a strong resume, and I am not saying this to be harsh. My own son is in the same boat. If he makes it to nationals (I’m thinking he has maybe 50/50 chance in CA), that’s as far as he’ll go.

@DiotimaDM I know I saw last year Elks allowed NJ to send 24 people. Is that from district to states or states to national those numbers. Do you know?

@mweb136 NJ sends 24 from state to nationals.

They won’t accept
attachments for the transcript. ACT financials. The error message says rejected due to no name on the documents. His name is in all of them. Reached out to their help email twice without a response. Anyone have the same issue with the attachments ?

thank you @EmptyNester2B

@ambkeegan This is only a guess, but that sounds as if a human is reviewing the documents. Can you try using a highlighter to circle the name and re-scanning?

Also, here’s a phone number.

@ambkeegan Do you have his name in the File Name of the Attachment? Could that be it?

It accepted my SAR and SAT Score Report right away (about a week ago); however I uploaded the transcript on Friday and it still says “Processing”. I am afraid to delete and start over, for fear it will delay it even longer. Anyone else experiencing this delay?
