Elliot School or Arts and Sciences??

Is it harder to get into Elliot than the other?
With prospective majors of Political Science and International relations which makes more sense?
Can you transfer schools after admittance? Pretty sure I remmeber you can take classes across the different schools with no problem, so what is the best option?

Anyone know haw many are admitted to elliot per year? and CAS?

Thanks

I think its 550 for international relations and about 1300 arts and science

Expatme

In my opinion, whether PS or IA depends on where you think your “future” career interests are! If you’re thinking more towards "Foreign service, State Dept, CIA etc - I’d go with IA-Elliott. If you’re more towards domestic - US Government, Public Policy - PS/CAS.

As you said - you can always take classes across colleges and possibly even “double major”, but the curriculums overlap a lot and probably not necessary.

Both degrees prepare you for either graduate school or law school.

Which is “harder” to get into? We were told @ GW admissions during the meeting, Both CAS and Elliott are similar? you could always discuss this with your regional admissions rep.

Good Luck!

I second this question, I have interest in Elliot and CAS.

I’m getting ready to submit my GWU supplement, is Elliot more difficult to get admitted? Also, if I did CAS and was accepted can one transfer into Elliot?

Oh well too late, I submitted my application.

My S started out in CCAS and switched to the Elliott School after his freshman year. Work with your advisor from the beginning and make it clear you would like to switch. You do have to “apply” to be accepted. My son did not have any problems with switching, but I know he worked very closely with his advisor in CCAS and may have made contact with an advisor in Elliott also. I know there were requirements including a gpa
Added today, January 10th. My S has now graduated from GWU, from the Elliott School.

Thanks but is Elliot more difficult to get accepted into or all the same? I know GWU Elliot graduate school is difficult.

My S had heard that Elliott was harder to get into, so he went the CCAS route and then focused on transferring. I believe, like many acceptance odds in other universities, that it is random to some extent and you can’t always predict or know what is happening. Work with your advisor and you should be able to successfully transfer provided you meet the requirements.
