@bplusmom, I’m right there with you. I wouldn’t say d is devastated, as it wasn’t an outright no, but I have a feeling it might as well be once the RD pool fills up. Wasn’t a great night as she got deferred by Northeastern too. Good luck to your d!

We just need to show Elon “the love” in someway that makes a point without being too much.

Thanks for Sharing

Our daughter also was deferred–we’re frankly stunned. She had a 3.91 (w) GPA with 7 AP and 6 honors classes, a 30 ACT, and very good ECs and recommendations. Was not prepared for this at all.

Oakton Parent and bplusmom - your Ds’ stats look very good. Don’t give up. You’ve demonstrated interest with EA; that could boost your RD chances. :)

@Oakton Parent, I have to say, I’m surprised too with those stats. Maybe your child looked TOO good and they thought they were just a safety?

@BPlusmom: Not sure how to show them the love–we live too far away to visit again. Maybe an email or call to the admissions folks? I’m not optimistic for RD but I guess you never know.

DougBetsy. Congratulations!!! I have seen your messages on the Elon site since last year. Your son must be very happy and relieved.

Thanks for your support. From My D’s school 12 other girls applied EA.

My daughter has worked very hard in freshman and sophmore year with grades to prove it. She has studied and worked hard every year. Her school only allows a few AP’s a year. The honors classes are very hard.

At the moment, we are in shock and need to come up with a plan.

If anyone on this site can suggest a plan to help her get in RD I would appreciate it.

(I need to be a little cryptic about her high school since there are very few all girls schools in the Washington area.)

I would love to continue chatting but work is calling and I still need to get ready. I will respond later today.

Son has not visited Elon yet and is anxious to do so.

Hi, our daughter also deferred. Similar stats, 2080 SAT. incredibly demanding private prep school. Also accepted Tulane but not Elon.

From the postings it seems the boys are getting in and not a lot of girls.
An attempt to balance the class which in the past has been many more girls?
Now what to do…

My son and his friend (boy) both deferred similar stats to those who were accepted. Both visited school had Great ec’s. I am not sure at this point?

don’t be too upset a lot of people get in once deffered. and remember elon only accepts 40%

Huh. Now I feel weird about my stats since so many people seem to have been deferred with higher GPAs… interesting.
