Elon Acceptances 2008

Yay! My D Just Got Accepted Early Decision To Elon. Woot!

Now the waiting game starts to see if she gets into MT. Either way, she is thrilled to be accepted to Elon!!!

Congratulations to you and your D. Wonderful news!!!

same here!!! yeah class of 2012!!

D just got a phone call from Catherine McNeela that she has been accepted. She still can't believe it and we are both kind of shaky (from happiness that is :)!

congrat's MTgrlsmom!!!

Congratulations MTgrlsmom!!! That is awesome news!!! :)

MTgirlsmom----BIG congratulations to you. Your D must have been wonderful
as I know that there were only a couple yes's, a small group of deferrals (including my D) and MANY no's. Has your D been accepted to Elon yet academically?

EA acceptances at Elon aren't released until later in the month. Congrats to both of you on your acceptances to Elon! :)

Hope2beELONmom - my D applied EA not ED and so as kaysmom says EA decisions will be available online December 19. Although my D absolutely loves Elon, she really only wanted to go if she was accepted for the BFA which is why she did not apply ED. Congrats to your D as well, we heard that there were indeed many, many no's.

only girls admitted thus far?

Alfeism - rumor has it there were 2 acceptances. I don't know if the other acceptance was a girl and if that person posts here.

A young man who takes voice lessons with my D's teacher got a call today that he was admitted to the MT program.

So........does it sound to you guys that one girl and one boy were accepted? They must have been outstanding. Does anyone have any idea how many deferrals there were? I only know of 3 girls. One in Indiana, one in California and one in Florida. The rest were rejections, I guess.

Let me just update that..........

As of today (12/6/07) I was informed (by a Mom in the know) that there are a minimum of 3 girls and 1 boy accepted. Those are the ones we know, so I don't know if there are any others out there. I still know of only 3 deferrals, though. I guess the actual numbers don't really matter, but it is always fun to know! :)

Unless you are getting the information from someone on the "inside" at Elon, I don't think any of us would know how many are accepted and deferred on this round at Elon based on who we "know" or who posts on CC. CC itself doesn't represent nearly all those who apply, nor or those who know others who have applied. So, those numbers so far sound like people you have "heard of" who got in or deferred. That is, unless you got the scoop from someone AT Elon who knows the numbers. I'm just pointing this out as sometimes on CC, we get a FALSE sense of how many are getting in and so forth and so on but what's on CC is often just who happens to post here or who they know. It's informative but not the whole picture. Of course, if your contact is someone who got the facts from Elon itself, do let us know!

I can tell you that my son knows nothing, because I asked. The students are in the middle of voice juries and finals this week.

Acceptances and deferrals are not widely known among the students.

Agree with Ericsmom. Finally talked to my daughter today for the first time in over a week. Even that was a quick hello and brief update on vocal juries, dance finals, acting class scene presentations, etc. She is CRAZY busy with end of semester MT stuff and finals/research projects/papers in her academic subjects. She knows nothing about Elon acceptances, etc. except what she's heard from friends of friends, etc. She knows of certain friends in her program who had friends rejected or accepted or deferred. That is all. Certainly nothing official.

I wish my info was from Elon, sorry, just from another Mom. But you are right. If we do not hear numbers directly from somebody at Elon, anything else is just speculation at best!

I initially wanted to post this in the general thread, but I was not really sure that was the right place, and so here goes. My D who absolutely loves Elon, and was incredibly happy to learn she had been admitted into the program earlier this month, was really fortunate to learn this weekend she has been admitted into NYU Tisch.

Now why this post you may ask? Well, I just can't say enough positive things about Elon, and even though my D is extremely excited to go to NYU next fall, she would have been equally excited to have attended Elon. For those of you considering Elon, you may think like we did, where in the world is Elon? Coming from CA, I guess we just don't get out enough :) Please know that we were so impressed by the people (both faculty and students) when we visited and had grown so fond of the program, that it was really hard for my D to send Cathy the message that she was withdrawing her application. Once again, Elon did not disappoint and Cathy sent her the nicest message back. First class all the way.

Those of you accepted and going, enjoy! Those of you still waiting, keep the faith, like my D, there is a plan for all of you! ;)

MTgrlsmom,

What a nice post! It is so nice of you to update us on your daughter. Congratulations to both of you! And yes, Cathy McNeela is really a class act.

Glad to hear your feelings regarding Elon, since that is where my D will be!
