Hi, Sorry to hear that. Is she out of state? Maybe they yield protected her? (Figured she would get into more selective schools (which is sounds like she did)?)
Weāve found unusual decisons abound this year. Iāve seen a number of kids accepted after deferral still receive merit money though so if itās a top choice for her, donāt give up hope yet.
I agree - this has been a very strange admissions cycle. Many deferrals for applicants that should have been admitted. I can only imagine that there will be a lot of movement off deferrals & waitlists - probably up until August. With your daughterās gpa, Iād wager that she is an excellent candidate to be admitted from deferral.
Did your daughter show enough interest in Elon? Prior to Covid, they did track interest. My older daughter had a classmate with high stats who was rejected and the counselor called on her behalf and the AO said it was because she never showed interest or visited (this was many years ago and weāre in NC, so easy to visit.) I know it was hard to travel last year but I still think they tracked interest via participation in virtual events and they had in-person open houses this past Fall.
Elon is a great school but their financial awards donāt seem to get out of the $5k range, except for a few select programs.
Thanks for the very good responses. We are out of state, and intended to visit the campus this summer but could not (for obvious reasons). We have attended several online information sessions.
Also, you donāt mention the program, but if it is MT (Musical Theater), thatās a whole different admissions ballgame! Other than that, my guess would be that the Communications school might be the most competitive major, but I donāt know how that affects admissions, if it does at all.
My son is an Elon sophomore and the admissions have definitely tightened up since his EA admission! Iām sorry your D got caught in this weird timing, hang in there!
Hi ā anyone have any insight about whether students will hear anytime before 2/1 about fellows interviews - OR, it is ON 2/1?
Also, has there been any information about the numbers of kids in the running for these spots this year?
Wondered the same thing on timing.
I believe my daughter heard on one of the webinars that it was a large number of applicants and so they couldnāt give a percentage of how many they expected to win awards at that time.
@mamabest @Rivergirl1313 When I applied I got a notification that the portal was updated about a day or two before the deadline. I would set your expectations to hear back on the 1st that way any early news is a good surprise! I donāt expect any information to be put out on how many applied until at least after the 1st. I think I remember them sharing that info at Fellows Weekend.
Is that really their typical merit? Weāve gotten offers of up to 28,000 and all of them being OOS. Elon is WAY low on the meritā¦we thought we had read it wrong.
Elon merit is lower than my DD ha been offered at and other schools, but the COA is also lower
My daughter declined Elon. They offered no merit and she got $50,000 from Tulane. Something is definitely off this year. Sad thing is that I thought Elon was a great fit for her.
Has anyone else who was accepted Early Action in December still not received Elonās welcome packet in snail mail. Just wondering because I thought I saw a social media post by Elon mid-December of them getting packets ready to mail, but my son still hasnāt received anything.
We got ours end of December- Iām guessing yours got lost in the mail. Maybe contact Admissions about it??
No packet here in Massachusetts
My daughter (in Mass) also didnāt get a packet either. Just the email.
Here in PA, my son just got admissions packet today for general admission. Thought it was just going to be an electronic notificationā¦ but still waiting on Accelerated Pathways invite to interview for Physical Therapy accelerated program.
We are from Mass too, accepted. Where in MA are you from? Is this his 1st choice?
Any one hear about 2nd round interviews for the 3+1 accelerated business program? When my daughter applied, it said she would hear by February 1st but wasnāt sure if her not hearing yet meant she wasnāt invited to continue or if they let kids know either way.
Has anyone heard if RD /deferred answers are definitely March 20th or have they historically said a date but have come out a little earlier?
Any fellows or scholars program decisions yet? Anyone know what time theyāll be rolling out today (if they havenāt already been out)? Do they come through the Acorn portal or through email?
