Elon decisions are up on their website through the status check. Son was accepted. Good luck.

Congrats!

My sisters and I were accepted, as well! (We’re triplets, in case you’re wondering. :P) I’m surprised the board’s so dead with RD Decisions going out today.

Does he plan on going there in the Fall?

yes, I got in!!!

I Got in!!!

Accepted! Congrats to all…

That’s great, srsx3. Do the 3 of you plan on going to school together, or are you willing (or even anxious?) to split up? And which island do you call home? (I love the Caribbean.) I don’t think Elon is at the top of son’s list. I think he prefers a larger school with either SEC or ACC sports. He’s been accepted to a few schools that fit that profile (Clemson, FSU, Bama) and is waiting to hear on some others (e.g., UGA, Wake). I realize Elon has as many undergrad students as Wake, but Wake is larger counting the grad students and, of course, has ACC sports. He likes Furman, too, but it only has 2,800 students. He’ll have a tough decision to make!

I got waitlisted. :(

Lbr218----

Please don’t feel bad…Elon does this and I think in the long run it will hurt Elon, not you. I read your other posts and you are clearly over qualified but you liked Elon and took the time to apply.

I was in a similar boat- applied EA as a 33 ACT (M 35, E 34, R 33, AND Science 30 as well as SAT II’s of 790, 740, and 690). I have great ECs, solid academics at a highly competitive high school, spent the summer in Africa volunteering in and living in an orphanage and helping in a medical clinic and have lots of very significant leadership at my school. I took the time to visit Elon, which is nine hours from home. They deferred me and took many less qualified applicants (from my high school, my community, and data shown on cc).

Today I was accepted but my interest has gone from very high to very low based on my perception of how they treated my application. I am a full pay applicant who loved Elon and thought it would be a good value play for my family where I would have a shot at merit money. Instead they deferred me, for less qualified applicants, and then accepted me RD, no money.

Question for ELON: Why should highly qualified applicants consider you???

Students that beat Elon’s stats should get a fair shake like everyone else. I would discourage future students that have high stats from taking the time and expense of applying- obviously Elon cares too much about their yield (% of applicants accepted who choose Elon).

ACT 30, GPA 89, great recs, tons of community service…waitlisted. They asked my college counselor if I would really go there if admitted, obviously care about yield over and above many other things. Several students from my class were admitted ED with scores and GPA below mine…I don’t understand. It’s as though they’re trying to weed out those students applying to Elon as a safety school…

Really tough situation as some applicants know they have to at least hit the 75% range of the 25-75 range as they are a BWRK- bright, white, well rounded kid…I am fine with favoring URMs…but give me a fair shake as well…

then they are dissed for being overqualified…

it is disheartening…

it is important for future applicants to see the data…so even if you are disappointed, please post…

This a poor reflection on Elon, not you…

Odd criteria, my D 730M 720 V 32 ACT, 3.8 small private school, and waitlisted too, she was accepted to colleges with even tougher (on paper) criteria, and waitlist won’t clear unitl June? I wonder why they don’t just deny at that point. Great school, would have loved for her to go, but, oh well…

Be happy with your situation, guys. It could be much, much worse. For instance, go check out the WashU boards for a while ;)

Thanks, razordad! It would be great if we all went to the same school (easier on our parents, us, etc.), I’m willing to go to another, but the other 2 want to stay together. For me, though, it’s either Elon or Wake, so I’ll have to wait a little while until I get a decision from them. I visited both campuses recently and I have to say Elon has a better atmosphere.
We’re from the Cayman Islands, by the way. We’ll miss the warm weather come Winter, but we purposely sought out a change in scenery/weather.
Good luck to your son, regardless of where he goes!

Hey congrats to all you cool people that got accepted, looks like an awesome school.

My admission status still says ‘in committee’ and I got an email yesterday saying my application is now complete and they will be reviewing it now. Anyone else in this situation? I thought decisions were supposed to be finalised and released yesterday?

thats what i thought… well they do waitlist alot of good people. I see now most of you were more qualified than me… i dotn understand the college process at all… im so happy i got in but i think it should be fair

Wow! I didn’t know this many other people with higher-than-the-average scores had the same issue as me. I have a feeling they wanted to keep their yield up. Oh well, I have plenty of other good choices! Good luck everyone.

Congrats to everyone. I was just there for orientation, and it was so awesome

My D was waitlisted - her credentials are on the high end of their requirements. My son will be graduating in May from Elon. It seems having a sibling in the school counts for nothing. A friend in her class also applied with a sibling there - waitlisted too. Why do they ask on the application then if it means nothing?

Just because she got wait listed doesn’t mean it has no influence. It probably just has to do with the yield situation and over qualification. I bet most of there overqualified people are taken in ED when they have to go there.

Well, non the less it’s still troublesome being waitlisted after paying full-tuition for my son for the past four years. However, I’m hearing from many that legacy isn’t counting for much anywhere anymore…even with the credentials.
