Elon Fellows Weekend for Class of 2023

If anyone has questions about Fellows Weekend feel free to ask them here.

I am a first-year Communications Fellow so I will know more about how that program works, but I can try to answer any questions about how the day goes or others can step in to answer the more specific questions about the other programs.

Good luck to everyone this weekend!

What was the actual interview like, if you remember?

For me, the interview was very laid back. I talked to my interviewer at the reception the night before so our interview was simply just checking off the box. For the interview itself, you go to a professor’s office and talk to them for no longer than 30 minutes. They want to learn about who you are as a person, not your academic record. I recommend having at least one question you can ask during the interview to both learn a little and show your interest.

What were some of the questions/topics you were asked about at the interview and at the reception?

Also, what was the essay like? Did you get enough time to finish it? And sorry, last question, but are you glad you did it? Would you say it is worth it? Thanks!

@Chan17 There is the obvious questions about why did you apply and what are your plans but they really just want to talk to you about who you are. They want to bring different people together who are motivated. They aren’t looking for the person who is the best they are looking for a person who is a team player and who can be a leader in the future. For Comm there some obvious questions about news and stuff like “Where do you get your news from?” and there may have been a question about like “what recent event have you been following in the news?”.

They give you plenty of time for the essay. You can’t take your time on it but they give you enough time to formulate your thoughts and write.

Also, I have had no reason not to be glad I have done it so far. Only good things and opportunities have come of the program and the only bad thing has been that I have had a harder class than some others.

Do you happen to know how selective each fellow program is? Do you know how they make the actual selections for the business fellow program? Is it mainly the professors making the selections, or are students involved also?
