Elon insights from current or past students/parents?

My youngest is entering her senior year and has been interested in Elon since we visited last Spring. We’re OOS, and we’ve encouraged her to “cast a wide net” when applying to schools. Having said that, we’re struggling to figure out which schools are a reach vs. a solid possibility. She knows which schools would be “safe”. (She is realistic and knows she doesn’t have the scores or academic rigor for schools like Duke.) We’re trying to be realistic about acceptance rates, cost, etc as she applies to schools.

A few questions about Elon:

-Are chances really better (as some have said on other threads) during RD rather than EA? (We’re not prepared to make a full financial commitment–so no ED for us.)
-Is it true that Elon doesn’t give a lot of merit aid? (We don’t qualify for FA.)
-Aside from a campus tour (already done), what are the other ways students can demonstrate interest? We were told during our tour that they don’t conduct interviews, but I’ve read on other threads about a state rep?
-Any insight about her stats and whether or not they’re compatible with Elon admissions? She’s leaning toward business and communications, but is undecided.

3.7 GPA (UW)
31 ACT
Top 25% of class
Will graduate with 7 AP classes (no AP math; all are history, english, psych, and environ scieince classes)
Solid ECs/VERY involved in school and community: SCA President this coming year; SCA VP junior year; Sophomore class Secretary; several Honor Societies (National, English, and Journalism); Managing Editor for school paper; sits on school advisory council with Superintendent; writing tutor at school; golf team; basketball team manager; volunteers outside of school as a mentor for students with special considerations; volunteers for a charitable foundation; volunteers at church for special events/as needed; works PT (15 hrs per week).

She is a well-rounded and solid student who contributes a lot to her classes and clubs but has Bs in math and foreign language. (She only took 3 years of foreign language.) She doesn’t take every AP class offered at her school, but has done very well in all of the AP classes she has completed (As in class and 4s & 5s on AP exams). No hooks.

With those stats she will have a relatively good chance of getting in. Although the MUST take the “demonstrated interest” seriously. Reaching out to your regional representative with questions and thank-you notes goes a long way.

Just a prospective parent here…I found information on scholarships here:https://www.elon.edu/e/admissions/undergraduate/financial-aid/scholarships-and-grants.html

Not sure what you mean by “a lot of merit aid,” but keep in mind that Elon’s tuition is lower than a lot of other schools (that I’ve been comparing, anyway).

Yes - that’s true. Elon’s tuition is lower than other comparable privates. Instead of inflating prices and increasing merit aid, Elon offers lower prices but less room for merit aid.
