I am a senior in high school, and I am applying to Elon University. I attend a very rigorous private school and have taken 3 AP classes, 4 core honors classes, and 14.5 enriched prep courses. My school's course levels are college prep, enriched prep, honors prep, and AP. I have a cumulative core GPA of 3.89 and a comprehensive GPA of 3.94, both on a 4.0 scale. I am a varsity cross country and track and field member and participate in the chamber orchestra. I also am part of the school's service club and part of an outside organization, the Eating Disorders Information Network. What are my chances of receiving the presidential scholarship (awarded to top 15% of incoming freshmen) and the honors/college fellows scholarships? I will probably not qualify for any need based aid, so I am hoping for some merit based scholarships. Thanks for any help!

What are your SAT scores? Is Elon your first choice?

My ACT is a 31 and I get my SAT scores next week. I am applying RD

You should most likely get the presidential scholarship and your ACT score of 31 qualifies you to apply for the Honors/Fellows program. The website says an unweighted GPA of 3.9 is needed to apply and an ACT of 31 or higher or an SAT of 2000 or higher. I’m not sure if they would use your cumulative core GPA or the comprehensive.

What are the parameters for the Presidential Scholarship in terms of SATs and grades?

My daughter will be a freshman next year at Elon. We got the call on Wednesday. How many honors fellows do they accept?

Congratulations! On their website, they say 40 students will be selected.

The top 15% percent of the incoming freshmen receive the presidential scholarship, so I guess it is all relative to the statistics of the students applying each year.

I just received the presidential Scholarship and have a 2160 SAT and 3.76/4.43 GPA with 8 AP classes and the rest honors and G/T(weighted the same as an AP, but not recognized by college board) over my four years

@annakc96 Congrats! May I ask what your scholarship amount was?

The scholarship is $6,000 a year which can be combined with any fellows scholarship later one. So the most you can get is pres+honors which totals $19,5000!

Son received the Engagement Scholarship and is very pleased. Should you not receive the Fellows/Presidential one, you might receive the Engagement; all applicants are automatically considered ($14K over course of four years + $2K for research, study abroad, etc.).

Elon weights GPAs differently than your transcript, so it’s difficult to compare HS GPAs. However, you appear to be a strong candidate and probably on the cusp of the Presidential. As @jc40 said you will probably qualify for the Engagement Scholarship which is $3,500/yr, and be able to apply for Fellows to get more. My son also received the Engagement award with 2080 SATs and a 3.8 (UW)/4.1 (W) GPA. Good luck!

I just applied for the honors and fellows scholarships online. However, when I submit my essays there is no preview or link, so I am not sure how one can open and read the document (PDF). Have any of you had this issue? Thanks
Invites will be released via email on Feb. 1st.
I assume that means midnight EST on Saturday it will be there…
Has anyone received anything? Usually they post at midnight EST of the date…
Nothing as of 7:57am. One more thing to repeatedly check.
My S did not get it, “no” email came at 10:10 am EST.
My d received an invite to attend! =D>
