Elon is my first choice and I was deferred from early action. I’m a caucasian female, senior at a fairly challenging public school with a weighted GPA of 3.7 and an SAT of 1800: math-550 cr-670 writing-580. I’m in the top quarter of my class. I’ve only ever taken 3 AP courses: Biology, Environmental Science, and Psychology, all this year, but I’m doing well in them (A’s for the first two terms). I’ve also taken Spanish for 5 years, but I’ve also only been in college (my schools lower, non honors level) math during high school. I’m very involved in activities such as show choir, volleyball, tennis, and a summer job, but I think a big weakness I have is not having any leadership positions. I don’t know how much it helps, but I did email my admissions councelor letting him know that Elon is my first choice. I love Elon and I’m very nervous for March 15th, so any opinions would be much appreciated!
Also, does anyone have any idea how many people (or what percent) are accepted to Elon after being deferred? Deferrals seem common in this school.
Also, I’m from out of state (Massachusetts
The Massachusetts item has zero baring on it. As you know Elon recruits very heavily in the Northeast. I did see that they were looking to keep the 2019 freshman class about the same size as the 2018. And the avg SAT for that class was 1865. Good luck
I don’t know a whole lot about Elon but from what I’ve heard they care alot about demonstated interest so if you haven’t already (and if it’s something that is feasible for you to do) you should go visit the campus. It also wouldn’t hurt to send your admissions counselor an email just to show you care and are invested in you application to the school.
