Elon, Wake Forest, or Richmond

I really need help with my college decision. My deposit is in at Elon, but I am waiting on wait lists from Wake Forest and Richmond. Help!

As a resident of Richmond (5ish minutes from campus), my leader right now is Richmond, which has a major tailor-made for me called PPEL (look it up, its pretty awesome). I have a brother at Wake Forest and my grandparents live in Winston Salem, and my main pros of Wake would be the academic quality of the degree and having family there. I am however quite frankly terrified of the workload. I deposited at Elon because it looked like a very amazing time, beautiful campus, but during my visit I felt already I would not be academically challenged. I feel the degree does not carry enough weight with the generation that will be hiring me. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!

It doesn’t sound like there’s much you can do at this point except to wait and see if you get off the waiting list at Richmond or Wake. Until then, there’s really no decision to make. Elon is a great school and if you end up there, you’ll be fine.

Like kierans says, there’s really nothing you can do about it right now and there’s no reason to panic about Elon. Are you going to be in their honors program? What makes you think you won’t be academically challenged?

Daughter just finished 1st year at Elon. Still doesn’t stop talking about how much she loves it. As above, Honors program may be an option but it’s pretty selective. May be too late for this fall. Any of the 3 schools would be great. You can relax.

First of all – Elon is a fine school. I wouldn’t worry about not being challenged. If you put the time and work in, you’ll get a great education. If you decide to ‘coast’ because you can – well you’ll get out of a school what you put into it.

Should you clear the waitlists – normally, I’d think Wake Forest is an obvious choice. I wouldn’t worry about the work load. If they accept you, you can do it. In your case, if Richmond has the perfect undergraduate program for you than it should be considered. There are two downsides – 1. Do you really want to go to college that close to home? and 2. What if you change your mind on majors?

However, until you clear one or both lists, you really don’t have a decision tow orry about.
