no; there saying you need to activate your online account or your won;t be able to see your admissions decision on April 1st b/c they are not mailing decisions.

Can you post the exact text of the email? It seems strange that they would not mail decisions - accepted students need a written record of their admittance. Maybe they are saying they will only mail letters to accepted students?

We have noticed that you have not yet logged into your account we would recommend doing so as soon as you can, as we are not mailing paper decision letters to applicants this year. Your admission decision will be available online Thursday, April 1st, beginning at 5:00 PM.

To log in, go to activate.brown.edu and select option Undergraduate Applicant Account Activation. Please enter the username and passkey that was emailed to you by the Brown Admission Office. If you did not receive these email messages, or are having trouble connecting, please contact our CIS Help Desk at 401-863-4357, option 1. Office hours are Monday Friday 8:30AM to 5:00PM. Please note that they can only speak with the applicant. Thank you!

Warmly,
The Brown Admission Office

Does this mean that I’m already rejected?
Because if I was accepted, they would probably mail something to me. My having an account would be unnecessary.

NO That is stated in the second sentence of the text that you posted.

It means that Brown, like many schools, has an online application status tool. An applicant can review the submitted status of documents required for admission.
The e-mail you is asking that you sign into that system using the username/password that has been e-mailed to you under separate cover. (in a different e-mail)

^but wouldn’t an acceptance letter be a decision letter? they won’t be sending acceptance packages this year?
yeah i got that email too, but i already activated it in december. i guess i just haevn’t logged in for a while.

the people who are accepted will get an acceptance package in the mail at some point (idk if it’s going to be on 4/1. prob not until a few days later) Everyone will receive his/her decision via the online account. Accepted and rejected. They just don’t want to waste their money sending tens of thousands extra letters to those who are rejected, which makes sense. The e-mail was like a heads up. It has NOTHING to do with your decision. It’s just telling you like “hey, don’t be expecting anything in the mail on April 1st from us, because that’s not how we do it anymore”
