<p>I want to enter my alternative/spam email address online on the common app because it appears as they give it to universities you apply to. I'm assuming this will mean that if I don't end up choosing college xxx then they will hammer me with marketing emails every day like 'choose us and get (whatever incentive)' .</p>

<p>I don’t really get spam emails from the colleges I put for the common app, and I used my regular email address, so I don’t think so. I don’t think it matters whether you use your real one or the alternate one. It is good to have one separate email account for all your college stuff, though.</p>
