Did anyone get a strange email from Irvine today?

Are they trying to imply that I’m not going to get in for the major I wanted?

Thank you for applying to UC Irvine.

Please be aware of the following important items regarding your application to
UC Irvine:

The University may offer you admission in an alternative major, either as
noted on your application or another alternative major, if comprehensive
review suggests potential for you to succeed in a specific program of study.

All applicants must submit complete and accurate information in their
original UC Applications. For freshman applicants this includes listing all
A-G course grades and courses taken for the correct respective terms for
admissions consideration by the filing deadline. If freshman applicants have
repeated A-G courses, applicants must report the original and repeat grades
for these A-G courses. For transfer applicants this includes listing all
UC-transferable courses and grades taken for the correct respective terms for
admissions consideration by the filing deadline. If transfer applicants have
repeated UC-transferable courses, applicants must report the original and
repeat grades and all colleges attended.

If you are admitted, your admission is provisional and subject to the
accuracy of application matching official documents submitted on your behalf
and to your successful completion of the courses you listed as follows:

Freshmen: courses listed for 12th grade (minimum 3.0 weighted GPA for
senior year)

Transfers: courses listed on your application upon which your admissions
offer was based and information provided in work in progress (WIP) reports.
UCI will only consider all application information and coursework reported
in WIP by the WIP deadline (e.g., February 15 for F08 consideration).

For Nursing Science majors, it is the applicant’s responsibility to
complete both the UC Application and UCI Supplemental Application by the
application filing deadline of November 30 and to ensure that recommendations
have been received by UCI by checking the MyAdmissions@UCI admissions status
page.

For majors in Dance and Music, it is the applicant’s responsibility to
complete required auditions, to complete the UC applications by the filing
deadline November 30.

Yeah. Other schools will send out emails as well. This is not a big deal.

I got the same email today.

LOL @ all the worrying that goes on here. “OMG they’re implying I won’t get the major I wanted!!11!” never crossed my mind.

lulz. paranoia ftw.

I wish I got a paranoia-inducing letter…or any letter. Gosh, they must not care about me!

This looks like a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) email for UCI to me. I wouldn’t let it cause any paranoia. UC Davis has been preparing similar messages to place on a FAQ’s page on our website.

hey UCD Admission. Are there anyone getting to engineering with 2.8 to 3.0 transferable GPA( even alternative major)

I won’t know until all decisions have been made, but by the time I’ll be able to tell the decisions will be on the web site, so you will already know if you were admitted to your first choice major or not.
