Email from Penn!

Did anyone receive an email from Penn's Kelly Writers House? I just want to know if it was generic... thanks!

What did your email say? I applied to Penn but didn’t get one…

Greetings from the Kelly Writers House at the University of Pennsylvania! My name is Jamie-Lee Josselyn and along with the Writers House’s Faculty Director Al Filreis, I work with prospective students who might find a creative and literary “home” in our community if admitted to Penn. I’m writing to you now as a way of reaching out and making sure you know about some of the projects and programs we offer here.

Please don’t hesitate to email me if you have any questions at all about Penn or the Writers House. Also, if you’re planning a trip to campus and you’d like to visit the Writers House, I’ll happy to set up a time for you to meet with me or with one of my co-workers here so you can get an even stronger sense of what we’re all about.

Sincerely,

Jamie-Lee

It sounds very generic, but I’ve received some personal contact from admissions and was wondering if this is not merely a ‘hey, don’t forget to check out penn’ email. I suppose it’s only for prospective writers? I’m majoring in foreign language… you?

That’s cool! Yeah, I would have no idea whether it means anything though. Either way it’s a nice email…

I applied to the Biological Basis of Behavior Major. So that probably explains why I didn’t get that email haha…

Omg I got one too!! Did you indicate an interest in writing cause I did. Could it be a good sign?

My interest is in International Relations, middle eastern studies. Should I have gotten one?

Well, seeing as how I applied to SEAS, it makes sense I didn’t get one.

I believe the Kelly Writers House recruits during the application process. There was an article about it in the Daily Pennsylvanian [Kelly Writer’s House attracts ‘most talented’ student writers | The Daily Pennsylvanian](http://thedp.com/article/kelly-writers-house-attracts-most-talented-student-writers)

reply reply reply. i highly recommend contacting them and expressing interest in their programs. certain centers like Kellys Writers House and Fox Leadership have some pull with admissions

Jealous!! :o
I indicated a double major in English & Poli Sci with the career choice of lawyer (1st) and journalist (2nd)…and got no email. :frowning: Sad day. So I guess it must be something special unless you put something more specific on your application that flagged them about you.

@naomikt

my app was filled with writing related activities such as attending a writing program, being in competetive journalism, songwriting, writing prose and poetry, and indicating that my first choice career was to be a writer/journalist so that probably had alot to do with me getting the letter. It may not be indicative of much anyhow

Yay so many responses! To respond to starrpower, I didn’t indicate much interest in writing myself, but I had an english teacher rec…

Did you respond to the email? I wish this could be an indication that our chances at Penn may be good ; p

I didn’t get one but I applied as a science major.
