<p>This is, of course, a good reply only if you suspend reality for a moment and actually assume it's better to be at West Point than Annapolis. ;)</p>
<p>This experience is part of a continuum (I'm much better at freehand). There are many points along this continuum. It begins with a decision to apply to a service academy, then we have the applications process, nominations, etc. Then R-Day, Beast, plebe year, and on and on. Some points on this continuum will be lower and some will be higher. The only guarantee is that experiences and opinions will shift over time. And then they will shift again. It gives us as parents a chance to fine-tune our flexibility skills.</p>
