Email from Stanford

So, I just got an email from Stanford's Office of Undergraduate Admissions. They asked me to click links to confirm my email, how to check my application credentials, a link to Stanford's Undergraduate website, a PDF of Application Instructions, and to make sure my name, address, and phone number were correct. Then, an hour later I got another email telling me they are sending me an 80 page manual "all about Stanford".

My heart was racing when I read these emails; I'm going to be a mess on December 15th.

Anyone else get these emails?

P.S. What happened to Richard Shaw? On the email it says Bob Patterson is director of admissions.

Anyone? bueller… bueller… bueller…

Really? A 154 views and no responses?

How long after you submitted ur Common App online did you get this? I submitted everything last night but have yet to receive any email correspondence from them…

I submitted my stuff too but haven’t received that email yet

StanfordKid3, Bob Patterson is the Director of Admissions and Richard Shaw is the Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid

Oh, it was Shawn Abbott that left for NYU, right?

Wanna know something cool? Bob Patterson’s first day on the job at Stanford was on my birthday. That’s ****ing awesome.

How long after submitting ur app did they send you these emails? Also, did u do an arts supp?

And question about URM, if you’re a first generation American, with parents that immigrated from europe or the middle east, would that help your chances much?

no. there are lots of first generation immigrant kids applying.

first generation as a hook usually means first in the family to attend college.

Is it a hook if your the first one in your family to graduate high school and go to college? No one in my immediate or distant family has completed high school.

Your parents did not go to college? It might help.

NO ONE in my family has. And when I mean no one, I mean NO ONE! My uncle, aunt, grandpa, cousins, great grandpa, grandma, dad, and mom.

Yeah that is a pretty big hook, might make up for the low ACT score. I’m hoping my arts involvement will help me out.

You always seem to throw that low ACT score in there, huh? LOL. I hate standardized tests.

standfordkid - you did not answer the question about how fast Stanford responded after you submitted your application. It is quite possible they are tracking you if you are indeed a first generation kid and your profile looks acceptable to them (it is irrelevant whether your grandparents, uncles aunts etc went to college or not, only whether your own parents did).
Since none of your stats are listed here, there is no way to tell if you are good enough academically.

I got it a week after. I received an email where they asked me to confirm my personal info like address, name, email, phone number, etc. And, an email where they would send me a 80 page booklet “All about Stanford” in the mail.

whaat? I got the first email a couple of days ago but nothing about receiving an 80 page booklet. Stanford must hate me lol -___-

Also, if I sent my SAT scores last March, but it says they do not have my scores yet, is that cause for worry or is it normal?

If you sent them last march they probably threw them out because they were trying to match 2011 applications. You should resend.

Actually I realize that I resent my SAT I scores when I sent then my subject tests last month. So it’s probably just processing time right now? hopefully? Because I don’t think that they would throw out scores sent on Sept 9, 2011 (to be specific), right?? Well, here’s hoping ;)

They won’t.
