if that is really berkeley...they shouldn't play with us anymore geez. but if it is, then maybe its good news he can't tell us what the third email was..cause obviously they can't say that it was a likely..that would be releasing decisions early :)..just a thought

I agree with collegeboy13536.. what proof do we have that "myberkeleyapp" is actually from berkeley? :p Also, everyone did not get the 2nd one unless app is referring to #3 as #2 accidentally.

In any case, even if myberkeleyapp is from Cal, the post doesn't seem to say much against/for any of the speculation here... so keep speculating everyone.

Thank you for clarifying on behalf of myBerkeleyApp.

Just to further clarify, is "myBerkeleyApp" contracted by the University of California to handle the administrative side of admissions notification or are you part of the University itself? I believe it's the former, but would like you to please correct me if I am wrong.

The most useful part of your post was to notify those students who did not receive any e-mail (so-called "Version 4") that they must figure WHY they did not receive any e-mail (spam filter, etc.). Otherwise, Thursday would have rolled around and they would not have been able to check their admission decisions, if I understand your post correctly.

As for the "I don't recall" Version 3 part of your post . . . very interesting, to say the least. I will hold off on contacting the University until after Thursday, depending on whether Version 3 recipients ending up being admitted. Bottom line, you don't tell prospective students to hold off on replying to other UCs if you are about to reject them. It's really that simple.

^^ if they did reject those ppl that'd be very cruel.

I'm moving on to the "Kyledavid " mystery. His posts on this thread....

Kyledavid...I'm joking. You are a great forum citizen.

About what myberkeleyapp said about those of us who haven't received any email regarding the March 27th decisions, WHAT?!?!?!?! I have myberkeleyapp in my address book, I don't have my email account automatically delete bulk/spam mail, and I know that my email address was typed correctly on my application because I've been receiving email from the Berkeley Financial Aid program and Alumnai Scholarship program. So with this, I can only draw the conclusion that I will be a Berkeley reject. I don't want to go to UCLA!! :(

When D originally got the WAIT email, we dismissed it as a mass mailing with weird wording, until I saw all the theories on this thread. This has been the most entertaining thread, and it will be interesting to see on Thursday what actually happens. For now I will go back to stalking the USC forum. There is a theory over there that if you are able to login to the current student system with your application ID, you are in.

I didn't get #2 which myberkeleyapp claims was sent to all applicants.
My spam filters are working fine as i got lots of emails from UCB fine.

myberkeleyapp conveniently forgot what #3 email said - reminds me of the Reagan "I don't recall" during the contra deal, instead of taking the 5th!!

myberkeleyapp claims that only way rejects will know will be through online login. I bet UCB knows better than that - no admission office will claim that they will not send a snail mail notification for rejects. There is always the paper app. for each and every online app.

myberkelyapp reiterates at length how to get decisions on 27th, which anyone who is active on this thread already knows...

I guess now the discussion can be either:
1. Is myberkelyapp for real?
2. is Kyledavid still in high school?
I think the latter discussion would be more entertaining and distract us better for the next 3 days! LOL

Here is a message from Walter Robinson, Director, Office of Undergraduate Admissions, UC Berkeley:

The email he is referring to is the one sent on or after Friday, 3/21/08:

"I can see how this email may have caused concern and created confusion, but I want you to know we were simply trying to provide you with a gentle reminder that our decisions are still going to be posted as promised, on March 27th. We decided to send this email after we received several inquiries from students wanting to know if we were going to release our decisions earlier than the original date. Clearly, we sent this email with the best of intentions and in the spirit of service to our applicants.

We apologize for whatever confusion this communication may have caused."

This is essentially the message you will get if you call or email the Office of Admissions.

There were an unusual number of bounces and network issues in the sending of the 3/21 email, so if you did not receive it but you are able to log in to myBerkeleyApp that is the main concern.

I think we should all add to this numbered list (starting with me, I guess), just like ppl do on other threads in regards to who is applying and who got in etc.

Put ur cc screen name before listing the emailed versions you have received. (and btw I never received that bogus "edited" email after receiving #3, so myberkeleyapp is either full of it, or misinformed)

Steph747, #1 and #3

ps. on thursday we should either start another thread or continue on this one by saying whether you got in or not, and what emails you had/had not received. EVEN IF YOU GET REJECTED PLEASE DO THIS SO THAT THIS WHOLE SITUATION CAN BE CLEARED UP AND OUR CONSPIRACY THEORY CAN BE PROVED OR DISPROVED

myBerkeleyApp: Ah.. but the point is: there were two versions, #2 and #3 (#3 with 'worth the wait') that were sent after 3/21.. and that is what this entire thread is about. Thanks for confirming our suspicions about #1 though. :)

Edit: @Steph747, it may not be a good idea to do that here.. perhaps another thread.. lets keep this one for speculations only, shall we? Its already cluttered as it is.

I emailed Berkeley Admissions on Saturday and I called this morning, received and heard nothing that from Dir of Admissions. Is MyBerkeleyApp a hoax?

If mBA is real, mBA claims to have contacted Dir of Admissions and received that response from him.

mBA did not mean that we would get an email from Dir of Admissions.

One thing I would like to add...

I really do wish UCB could have released admission decisions earlier than March 27th. Cal Day is April 12th, barely two weeks after admission decisions - and earlier than last years' date of April 21st. This leaves OOSers and Internationals with less time to make plans to attend.

UCLA gave early enough notice with their engineering letter. Cal must be assuming people are going to scramble to make plans for Cal Day. Not too cool, IMO. :(

drSarah, received email #3 on March 21

I received a completely different email than those. Is that weird?

what did your email say?

you guys are going crazy... I think its just an email reminder to EVERYONE!!!!

I applied to only UC Berkeley and got the email and I live in New York!

LOL. come on guys. This isn't the JFK conspiracy theory. There aren't any lives at stake here. So let us all just wait until Thurday. Even though it has been fun to speculate. I just want to remind people not to go crazy over this. I see some people are letting this rule their judgment and their lives literally. Its not that important.

Let's not freak out and make UCB admissions think that it/they has/have to reject people who got the e-mail now! lol. These theories though really illustrate the depth of imagination inspired by desire. It really is amazing to see diversity of thought even at CC.

Remember these people might be your collegemates tomorrow! O and thanks lextal, Cal is one of my top choices (like every1else I guess) :)

Wow, this thread has expanded. Anyway, my main question still remains: why send 3 different emails, and why ask people to "wait," if only for a rejection?

I've contacted Berkeley a few days ago and still haven't received a reply.

If "myBerkeleyApp" were real, wouldn't his username be in Italics, like "UCD Admissions" or something?

Anyway I suppose we'll find out soon. Good luck, all.
