It seems pretty mean that Cal would do this, but we can't just assume they're kind-hearted and such... Maybe they just said "we're worth the wait!" because they know how great they are. Besides, they always (or at least always try to be) last to release their decisions, so it's obvious that Cal is quite confident about the applicants matriculating their school. Anyway, Cal can do whatever they want and even toy with our minds (which is actually happening now as it seems). I think we're all overanalyzing this situation because we have so much hope that it may possibly be a likely letter, and who knows, maybe it is! Like many have said earlier, all we can do is wait. I know three days feels like such a long time, but we have to pull it through!

another reason i dont think this is a likely letter is because more than half the people in this thread have gotten it.

majority of the people that go on college confidential have pretty good stats =)

^ true, however one must remember that ucb does admit 10,000+/- students every year. the number of people that say they have received the email does not come close to the number of students that will be admitted this year.

That's what i was thinking...
Why would soo many people get it if it's a likely letter...I mean we're talking about UC Berkeley here. Would they take in so many people? These are the people on CC, but think about everyone else that applied who says "yeah I got the 'likely' letter". It couldn't be a likely letter that everyone got..that's a little suspicious ...think about it...
It just makes no sense.

At this point. Page 31 ...of this LONG thread, we can debate over it a million more times...but the only thing that'll make everything certain is the letter on March 27...........................

(cross your fingers!)

kittycat123: thats what i was thinking too... and plus the mostly only ppl who have received the email come to this thread~

brwneyedgirl:

My stats are pretty embarrassing in comparison with others on this site:
3.98 uw gpa
2060 satI
sat II: 650- lit 590- math II (i know I sholdn't even be on this site in order to maintain my self-esteem!)
32 ACT
rank: top 4% of my class

If you subscribe to a forum about college admissions, chances are you're a good student.

Stay optimistic, people! Remember, lots of people with below average stats get into UCB each year.

This seriously has become my favorite thread on CC. Leave it to a bunch of high strung overachievers to analyze word for word emails from colleges.

Don't fret if you have below average stats! Because people with super high stats (4.2+ UC GPA, 2300+ SAT), they have to accept lower people to balance it out and give you the final average.

^ hahaha yeah i seriously have to come to this thread everyday. and everytime i leave, there are always like 5 pages of new posts hahaha. but at least it gives me some hope ^^

i should be doing calculus hw now but i can't resist viewing this thread= =
hahaha i can't waittttttttttttttttttttttttttt

haha this is amusing. I got one email. & it was the one saying "worth the wait".
i dont know which # that is considered. I coudn't read all 31 pages. hahha.
too bad the 27th couldnt be sooner, so that we can stop over analyzing

The email was NOT sent to everyone. A bunch of people I know , including myself, did not receive any letter at all. I have recieved many letters regarding berkeley's alumni scholarship, so i doubt they have the wrong email.

@gymgirl18:
the one u got is #3

cfsaetern, you are right because there were some ppl in my class who never received the email and only a few who actually got it

yea i asked my classmates today too and not alot of ppl got it.

I don't know if the emails mean anything. I've been reading this thread for the last 2 hours, and many people who got this email have been accepted everywhere. I applied to UCD, UCSD, UCLA, and UCB. I've been rejected from UCD, UCSD, and UCLA AND I got the #3 email.

stephnieme,

Did you have stellar extra curriculars and/or good essays on your app?

can someone sum up for me, what each email said?
i think thats so weird that they would send out three different emails, and that some people wouldnt receive one at all.

yayitsjane: I like to think I have stellar EC's on my app. I'm Key Club Secretary, NHS, CSF, JNHS, 4 yrs swim team, and some more. And I have a 4.2 GPA. Still rejected from Davis and SD. :(

Oh, and my essays were pretty well written.
