Hi all. Tonight I received an email from UVA about “my claim of eligibility for in-state privileges.” It told me to log into my SIS account to see what their decision was. I’m confused because I’m an applying student, so I don’t have a SIS account. I’m also an out-of-state applicant, and never claimed that I lived in UVA (on my portal, it has said non-virginia resident since I applied in October). Has anyone else received this? What does this mean, and should I be concerned?
Wow! The same thing happened to me. I panicked thinking that I made a mistake and I went back to the Common App…I clearly checked that I was out of state. I don’t have a SIS account either…now that I see I am not the only one, I guess it is probably a glitch. Did you reply?
Same! Happened to me too. Thought I was the only one.
Maybe it is a good sign?
I am an in-state applicant and received this too. In my status page, my residency still shows up as “Under review”, and I do not have a SIS account either.
I got this as well. Thank god for this site, I panicked before seeing this.
Ah! I’m so happy to hear that I’m not the only one. I’m going to call the school tomorrow morning and ask what’s up. I will post on this thread what they say.
My DS also received and went back to the Common App to check, he did indeed indicate OOS.
I got this email too and I’m in-state and some of my friends also got this…the site isn’t letting me create a sis account or anything. I feel like this isn’t official. Mine came from a really whack email address
Hey all, the VA Status office just used some outdated language in that email. You don’t need a SIS account. Everyone uses the portal to monitor their account now.
Sorry for the confusion. The portal is new this year. I put up a blog post showing exactly where you can see your residency status in the portal: http://uvaapplication.blogspot.com/2018/11/good-bye-sis-hello-uva-portal.html
BTW, it’s been two weeks since deadline. It will be at least two months before we’ve read all these files.
