So i made my email, and im not liking how its ridiculously hard to use.

One issue im having is that whenever i click on my inbox or my spam (which each have an unread message), it just says "There is no message selected". how do i fix this and check my messages rofl -___-

and for however stupid i might sound with that question, sorry lol

oo i really really want to do that, but i cant figure out how. on gmail it has the option to forward my gmail to other ones, and then on harvard it has the option to receive from other addresses, but not what im looking for

I assume that the acceptance notification must be received before one is capable of setting up the email, correct?

Also, has anyone been able to accept the offer of admission online? The site doesn’t seem to be fit for admission confirmations so I simply sent in the snail mail reply.

I got both, but for people with longer names, @fas effectively butchers your name because it has a maximum number of letters. And yeah, the webmail sucks, so I just redirected it to another address.

I only got the college.harvard.edu one. And yes, I’m forwarding my mail to my gmail account and I’ve set up my gmail account to send mail through Harvard’s SMTP servers (a new feature, I think, which is pretty nice).

Does sending mail through Harvard’s SMTP servers make any difference? What do you get/what’s the difference?

You know when you signed up for the FAS resources thing, you had to provide a username and password? Well, I tried logging in with that into the webmail.fas.harvard.edu site and that’s your @fas account. The username is 8 characters only.

You are my new favorite person. Thanks. Sending it through Harvard’s SMTP servers I’m fairly certain makes the message authentically from Harvard’s email account, whereas otherwise it would in reality still be a message sent from your gmail account, but with the simple Reply To: and From: tags modified to reflect your Harvard email. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Haha. I changed it so that it works from the SMTP servers. Harvard keeps saying that all students can only use their @college address, but @fas works perfectly, including receiving and sending mail.

The bad thing about redirecting is that if you send mail through the Harvard account indirectly, the mail isn’t saved to the College sent folder. I’d have liked to have a separate copy of Harvard-related sent mail. Oh well, its a trade-off for user-friendliness.

Technically, you can join the FB Harvard '14 now that you have your email. Have you done it yet? I’m just too lazy :)
