Email names..

What name should I create for an email that I will use for applications and such? I don't know if I should type in my full name or what. What do you think? Any privacy concerns?

Just do your last name or something.

actually, I used my regular email... quitejaded

I actually created my email for private high schools I was applying to. Then I just started using it for everything. So my username on CC is my username on just about everything else. It's just my first name and birthday.

Heh, I created my email so that junk could be sent to it, but Gmail is so much easier than anything comcast or outlook can do for me that I just started using it for everything.

Gmail is the greatest.

I gmail it up..One has my nickname-that I use for anything personal/friends, the other is my full name for jobs, etc, collegeboard

Yeah, firstname.lastname@gmail.com for everything..

Gmail rocks, especially with the forwarding to main e-mail feature! I give out my "professional" e-mail to jobs/colleges which is firstletterfirstnamelastname@gmail.com which will soon be replaced by firstletterfirstnamelastname@bu.edu!

-The Professional Coot66

I read somewhere that it should be professional.

haha, at the University of Washington early entrance program, people put in weird names for their e-mail addresses that are totally unrelated to their names. one kid had anykid37. and then they're stuck with those e-mails for the next few years

Too bad I have a horrible name. Kind of. Sort of. Not really. But I don't like it.

Snoopyiscool,
Your name can't be that bad. Actually, I don't believe in this "bad names", "good names" whim. There is no bad name/good name, unless your name has a really really bad meaning - even if that, it won't be that bad.

Hmm... I think it should be formal, and you can always use the first letter of your first name, then type in your last name. Or just write your full name. (since you're using it for applications and such).

Yes, yes. I just don't like my name. My first and last names don't really go together. But whatever. I'll suck it up.

I thought about changing my email for admissions, but it was sort of already related to one of the things I was focusing on in my application so I went with my regular address. and at least one interviewer commented on liking it!

Mine is [first name initial][middle name initial][last name][lucky number, haha] @ yahoo.com. It looks professional enough, I guess. My name is pretty common, so just using initials wasn't enough- I had to add numbers.

Gmail is the greatest? In my opinion, there's nothing better than yahoo----it's quite compatible and well-organized. I tried gmail but don't like it since it looks a bit awkward although they've a really good service and tried their best.....:D hotmail----eeh, not really. u shouldn't really be afraid of privacy concerns just go w/ something not offensive! (lol!)
