Do a search ( in American University thread) on last year and you will see how they were notified.

:/ How do you find last year's posts?

Try advanced search. Then use keyword acceptance. Make sure you change post dates to last year. There may be an easier way but I use this.

Last year, the majority seemed to hear on march 10th-11th... but a lot heard on the 15th and some didnt hear until the 20th.

I dont think anyone should be worried just yet.

Thanks! I read through some of it. The e-mails were sent out around this time over a span of a week last year. :/ Hopefully, we'll all receive some news.

Maybe the're just using the date your app was complete.

did they email you directly or were you able to check through the student portal thing??

E-mails were sent directly.

And it should then be on your portal

Really? :/ I made myself a portal but ended up using the Common Application to apply for AU. Would that make a difference? Not sure since my friend who did get an e-mail used the Common App also.

It will make no difference. It will show up in your portal when they list them.

My daughter received her "congratulations" e-mail today. We are in Massachusetts and she applied via the Common App. close to the deadline. I have no idea what her GPA is (small-ish private school does not give out that information), but her ACT was 32. She had phenomenal recommendations, 4 years of crew, drummer, interesting work experiences, good volunteer work (just one position).

My theory is that they all go out in waves. not a few every day. looking at last year's thread, claims of notificiation of admission by email were all in a specific day. at the end or beginning of a week. March 10th, Marth 17th etc....

Also not everyone recieved them. some say they got acceptances through snail mail. My theory on this is that it will depend on the evaluator assigned to your city or state. a lot of ppl from last year in various states never heard through email while others did.

Hmm. :/ Looks like people got e-mails both yesterday and today.

UGH I am so anxious, lol. I just want an e-mail and get this waiting over with!

There has to be a cylce for these emails. Sure they send out every day emails, but the majority as you can see from last year went out on certain days. This isnt rolling admissions so i doubt they send them out as ur application gets processed.

i got an acceptance e-mail today...

SAT: cr-690, m-600, w-660
GPA: ~3.7

good ECs
strong essay IMO

I live in North Carolina, used the common app. and applied pretty close to the deadline if i remember correctly

Im glad i was accepted, but American is third on my list with regards to colleges in DC...

omggg i'm nervous now!!

Any internationals getting acceptance emails??

"hmmm but i checked the website and my status is still "being reviewed".."

where does it say that ^^

On my application status it says that they are no longer accepting apps and that everything is being reviews. But if i click apply online my status just says "submitted". Is it supposed to say being reviewed there?? An AU representative told me my file wuz complete =/ damn i'm gettin' nervous...

I live in NC, too, and I didn't get an email today.

This is kinda making me crazy!

B407, if you go to your "student portal" account on the American University website and click the "application status" link, it should have that statement about "...applications are currently being reviewed..." on it.

Still waiting in IL (Chicagoland area). Meh. :/
